The many faces of Mia

This is a 2 page 8 1/2 X 11 LO that I did of my 16 y/o daughter, she always makes the most amazing faces, when she was young my little sisters would get her to make all sorts of expressions just for fun, I think by now it is habit, but we think she is fabulous.

I am entering this LO into 2 challenges today
Cooking With Cricut, the challenge was Anything BUT a card with Yellow & Polka Dots
Paper Take Weekly's challenge was to highlight something on your project

I used the Nifty Fifties Cartridge for the font, and the paper came from the Lemon Stack by DCWV.  All of the letters are covered in silver glitter glue, I am not sure why it didn't show up very well in the pics, but it looks pretty cool in person.

Tranquility

I have resolved to use my embellishments that have been sitting in my stash being ignored, so this card was the result of a need to use this fabulous little fan.
The sketch came from the Mojo Monday sketch challenge, the idea of using a different color scheme than I would normally use for this stamp set came from the Non-traditional Colors challenge at Ribbon Carousel, and the matching challenge at Paper and Such, last but certainly not least the challenge at Shopping Our Stash was to use blue as the main color for your project.

Stamps: Stampin' Up
Everything else was just hiding around my craftroom just waiting to be used :)

A day at the park

This LO is of my mother and my grandmother feeding geese at a park in California, they were on vacation, the last one that they ever took together actually.  This is the last picture that they had taken just the 2 of them,  I think that it is a beautiful memory to have, and it will be part of the book that I am making for my mother, of her mothers life.

I am entering this LO into the "label it" challenge at Fantabulous Cricut,  and also into the challenge at Little Red Wagon, the challenge was to use 2 different ribbons.

Delightful Valentine!

This fabulous sketch came from the Sketch Saturday Challenge.  The "mood" or style of the card was inspired by Sugarcreekhollow and their "go girly" challenge.  The Paper Loving Gals, also inspired me with their beautiful yellow flowers, reminding me so much of a long awaited spring... with even longer yet to wait.

Gotta Live One Here!

Hehehe, since I scrapbook my ancestors so much I get a little excited when I find a LO I really want to use for my kids :)  This is my daughter Mia (The darker girl) with her 2 best friends.  Not to brag, but dang we've got some beautiful girls there. When I saw the sketch on LMLC I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
The stamp up up in the corner says, Blessed are we who can laugh at ourselves, for we shall never cease to be amused.  I used the Glam Girl Stack from DCWV for the paper, and the stickers, well I must have bought them somewhere sometime, but the answer to that question will just have to be answered by someone far smarter than I... Needless to say I had a wonderful time scrapbooking my sweet little (5'10") baby.

Missing You

I am entering this card in 2 Challenges today
&

The digi stamp came from Heart Song Inspirations, and the sentiment came from a stamp that I snuck out of my mom's craft room, leaving only a post-it note with my name and a smile :)

This is a page I did using The Old World Stack, it is my grandfather when he was a young boy, and then on his 42nd birthday. The baby that he is holding is me at 2 months. The top 2 ribbons are topped with braided craft thread, the hanging clock symbolizes the passage of time.

This is a 2 page 8 1/2X11 LO, It is my hubby's Great Great Great Great... Grandfather, he was an amazing man who was born in Germany, served in 2 regiments in the Civil War, was a member of the first fraternal order to be chartered by congress, The Knights of Pythias.  By 1923 when he died he had been an alter boy in the Grand Cathedral in Cologne, Germany, he had been a Goucho on the Pampas in Argentina, he worked in the Hudson Bay woolen mills in Canada, then lived in New York, Iowa, Illinois, Oregon, and finally California.  From a scrapbooking standpoint the possibilities are endless, unfortunately from a family historians point of view, since he was adopted in Germany, he is what is commonly known as a "Brick Wall".

The Knights of Pythias logo was printed in black and white and colored with my kids crayola markers ;).

I used a Kraft cardstock base and the papers are all from Basic Grey, the Sugared collection, I used some pre-cut dies from that same collection and also I added a button and some white satin ribbon from my stash.

Liebster Award

Sharing and passing the "Liebster" Award

I have a blog award I want to share with you thanks to Kimberly at Paper Munch “Liebster” is a German word meaning dearestbeloved or favorite, and the Liebster Award is sort of a chain letter among bloggers that’s intended to showcase exceptional up-and-coming blogs (typically, those with 200 or fewer followers). Now, there’s no evaluation committee or formal award process for the Liebster, but in a way it’s even nicer – it’s recognition that a peer has noticed and appreciated your hard work.

Here are the rules:
  • Choose 5 up and coming blogs of fewer than 200 followers to award the Liebster to.
  • Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.
  • Post the award on your blog.  Link back to the blogs you have given the Liebster to so everyone else can pay them a visit.
So in no particular order here are my 5:
1. Kae -  Kae's Golden Touch
2. Melanie - The Learning Cottage
3. Amy - Amers Creations
4. Stacey - Oh Schwiet Scrap
5. Sarah - Sarah's Crafts & Stuff

Forever

This is my grandmother, no one seems to know for certain when it was taken, but she was standing in front of her church. This seems to be the last picture taken of her before she passed away, so I am guessing that she must have been somewhere around 35 or 36. I used the sentiment Forever, because she never grew any older. I also thought it was kind of neat that this last photo that we have was taken in front of her church, when my mother talks about her, her example of faith in God is always a big part of those memories.
I am entering this LO into the challenge at Sketches In Thyme, I used paper from the Old World Stack, and the Forever stamp is from a set from stampabilities.

Wedding LO Part Deux

This is my grandparents on their wedding day, sadly both have passed on, my grandmother before I was born, so I never got to know her.  I am making a book of my grandmothers life, and am scrap-booking as many pictures of her as I can find to be part of it, she hated having her picture taken although when I see these pictures of her wedding day I don't understand why, I think that she was beautiful.
I am entering this LO in the challenge at "The Paper Variety"  the challenge was black and white with a kiss of   color, so I chose the color that (I think) her bouquet was.  My background paper is from DCWV's The Formal Stack, the roses in the original paper were white, I don't know why it came out looking pinkish when I took my picture, the effect is much more striking in person.  The accent paper is from The Old World Stack (also DCWV).  I used my Ashlyns Alphabet cart for the lettering and Walk In My Garden for the border, I used my gypsy to turn the roses into a border.

Childhood Remembered

This is a 2 page 8 1/2x11 LO of my grandmother as a child, these are the only pictures that we have of her from when she was born until 1947, I never had the privilege of knowing her, she passed away when when she was only 37, so this year as I am turning 37 myself I am attempting to make a scrapbook/story of her life to give to my mother.
I am entering this LO into the getting scrappy challenge at Amanda's Crafts and More, the challenge was a LO "anything goes".

The paper I used is from Old World Stack by DCWV and the rub-ons are from Basic Grey and K&Company, the embossing was from Provo Craft.

Getting to know me

I made this LO for the challenge going on at LMLC, I would never have guessed how hard it would be to scrap-book me.  I am a wife, a mother, a student genealogist, an amatuer crafter, I run a community theater, and have a fondness for things that sparkle and high heeled shoes.  But most of all everything that I am begins and ends with Family. (Except maybe the shoes)

I used the Forever Young cartridge for the hat and shoes, the Heritage cartridge for the grandfather clock, the Inspired Heart for the outline of Jesus and the word contradiction was from Ashlyns Alphabet.  The silver rub-on about family came from Basic Grey, and the Family stamp is from Stampabilities. The paper DCWV, dots and stripes.

Home Sweet Home

I am attempting to make a book in memory of my late Grandmother, using scrapbooking to give it life, as well as dates and occasions.  This particular page is being entered into the On The Edge  challenge going on at Whimsical Designs.  There are sadly very few pictures of my Grandmother, this is about 1955 in Seattle, Washington in front of her house.  I used my Nifty Fifties Cartridge for the house, done at 3"(that is width, not height). The sentiment came form sentimentalities, and the paper is a combination of Basic Grey, Stella Ruby Stack, and DCWV Old World Stack.

Wedding LO

This LO is of my Grandmother on her wedding day, she passed away before I was born but I grew up hearing wonderful stories abut her.  This year I will turn 37, which is the same age as she was when she died, so I have decided to make a scrapbook in her memory to give to my own mother.  The sketch that I used is for a challenge over at More Than Favors, The paper is from the DCWV Tradewinds stack, I used Accent Essentials cartridge, the sentiment stamp is by stampabilities, and the journaling stamp is Basic Grey.
